Employee Health & Well-being

Healthy, engaged teams drive organizational performance and resilience. I help businesses create workplace environments, programs, benefits and cultures that support employee well-being so people can do their best work and organizations can perform at their highest level.

My approach to employee well-being goes far beyond traditional wellness programs. I believe employee health is deeply connected to workplace culture, physical environment, leadership practices, communication, creativity, and feeling a sense of purpose, trust and connection at work.

When businesses invest in the well-being of their employees, those same organizations become more innovative, collaborative, resilient, and sustainable.

I partner with organizations to design thoughtful employee experiences that improve engagement, strengthen organizational health, and create workplaces where people genuinely want to contribute and grow.

My Approach

My work combines organizational strategy with practical, human-centered well-being initiatives. I help organizations:

  • Design healthier and more inspiring workplace environments

  • Create educational initiatives focused on nutrition, movement, stress management, and creative health

  • Develop innovative benefits strategies

  • Improve office spaces to support creativity, focus, collaboration, and diverse working styles

  • Introduce design elements such as plants, natural materials, color, and art

  • Incorporate ergonomic improvements that support physical comfort and long-term health

  • Build employee engagement strategies that prioritize sustainable performance, creativity, and communication

  • Foster cultures where employees feel energized, connected, and supported

I also bring training in horticultural therapy, which informs my belief that our environments significantly influence how we think, feel, collaborate, and perform. Thoughtful spaces can improve mood, reduce stress and absenteeism, encourage creativity, and help people feel more connected to their work and one another.

Why Employee Well-Being Matters

Employee well-being is not separate from organizational performance. It directly impacts it. When we can help employees feel their best, we are also establishing the conditions for them to creatively solve challenges, imagine solutions and deliver high-impact work. Organizations that invest in healthy workplace practices often experience:

  • Higher employee engagement

  • Reduced burnout and absenteeism

  • Improved retention and morale

  • Greater creativity and innovation

  • Stronger collaboration and communication

  • Increased productivity and sustainable performance

  • Healthier workplace culture and leadership alignment

Supporting employees well is both a people strategy and a business strategy.

Case study: Humble Health

Humble Health was an internal health and well-being program that I designed, launched and directed for a video production agency in Raleigh, NC. Its mission statement, "building a healthy and balanced workplace community," was the foundation of the program and we focused on three primary dimensions of health that impact employee engagement:

  1. Physical Health

  2. Emotional Health

  3. Creative Health

WORK EXAMPLES

Each year, we designed a mix of health challenges, educational content, events, traditions and general workplace improvements. In addition to continuous research on health and well-being, we consistently interviewed and surveyed the team to understand how to best support the three dimensions of well-being listed above. We also used the program to imagine and design new employee benefits. For example, at the start of Covid-19, we implemented a flexible health and well-being reimbursement policy for the company as well as a WFH stipend. You can read more about that here.

Folate Video - I produced and directed the video above to help employees understand how diet and nutrition can help positively impact their experience and performance at work.

Creative Vacations - Creative Health was a new category of well-being that I imagined for the company in 2020. We defined it as the conditions, mindsets and experiences that spark creativity and imagination. When our company switched to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic, we implemented a wide range of tactics to support our culture and employees’ well-being. Creative Vacations became a weekly post that I shared on Monday mornings. We had originally come up with the concept before the pandemic. Through surveys and discussions, we learned that employees often found creative energy by mixing up their routines and being in new environments. We wanted to find a way to make this concept possible for employees even while quarantined so that we could continue to support their emotional and creative health.

Quarterly Newsletters - To keep the team connected and inspired, we also wrote quarterly newsletters. They were filled with employee interviews, program recaps, employee recipes, etc. Below are a few samples of those newsletters.

Challenges and Events - Every quarter, we typically hosted a health challenge, a small event and a potluck. Above are a few examples of those experiences. The Shred Shrine was a zany event on the last day of the year. We set up different stations throughout the office, one of which had a paper shredder. Employees were able to write down and shred any stressors that were weighing them down.
